  2. That was an interesting video. Now I really want to see the movie

  3. The trailer seems to stick to the story for the most part, and it looks like it includes some of the stuff that happens before Pi gets stranded. Luckily, the trailer didn't give anything much away in the book.

    1. I agree, the trailer does stick to the story but adds in a few details about what happens when the boat crashes.

  4. My thoughts about the clip are that the character and surroundings are very different from what I pictured it. The movie is very interesting and complicated, but the movie clears things up a bit.

    1. As I pictured the book scenes I thought of allot of things looking abandoned but I guess I was wrong because in the movie trailer I saw blue skies and beautiful buildings in the background.

  5. My thoughts on the movie are how is it going to end. Another thought I have is when does Pie find the tiger.

    1. Pi finds the tiger when he first finds the boat at 1:20

  6. It makes me want to watch the movie! It's interesting how the tiger and Pi aren't friends at first, but then the video shows Pi crying over the tiger so I think they protect each other and become friends near the end.

  7. I think the trailer makes the movie look very accurate though i am confused as to what that little raft thing pi is on is.

    1. The raft is confusing, but I'm pretty sure he makes it out of random stuff to stay out of Richard Parker's way. I think the movie will be accurate too.

    2. I think that the trailer will explain some things or make things seem more understandable, but maybe not make the book more "accurate".

  8. I think the trailer was more detailed than the book. I think if you compared the book to the movie the movie would be more descriptive than the book.

    1. I agree, I think part of the reason why is because you can see whats happening in the movie, while reading the book you can only picture whats happening.

  9. The movie trailer was really good, i have a question though. Where were the other animals like the hyena, orange juice, and the zebra.

    1. If you watch the trailer over, you will see that Pi swims past the zebra.

    2. orange juice is there though she is not included in the trailer. on on that note, may we all have a moment of silence in loving memory of orange juice. :(

  10. The movie trailer makes the movie look interesting and a lot of fun to watch. There was a glowing green whale and cool but it looks to be a lot different from the book.

    2. I agree. The whale was very cool with the whale.

  11. It looks really interesting, Pi seems to know what needs to be done to survive. The trailer looks like Pi tamed the tiger, which is surprising almost.

    1. He does tame the tiger. I know because I have read the book before.

  12. I think that the trailer looks like the book. The Trailer has scenes that I recall reading so it feels like I've already watched the movie but I know for a fact I haven't.

    1. Yeah the movie is pretty accurate to the book. There are only a couple of things that are different.

  13. I think the movie is going to be less confusing then the book. I also think that the movie is going to be alive and at all times something is going to be happening.

  14. I think this movie looks good but not the best movie. The trailer put my hopes down because I didn't see orange Juice. This is what I think about the movie\trailer.

    1. It will have Orange Juice. Orange Juice is important.

    2. I was disapointed about not seeing Orange Juice as well, but I'm wondering why the hyena couldn't like wait to eat, because the tiger was still and unactive in the book, but the hyena raced around and killed the zebra!-Riley

  15. My thoughts about the trailer is that it is touching. The boy was with the tiger and petting it.The trailer is also sad but beautiful.

  16. I think that the movie is going to be like most book to movie productions, they will probably skip a few parts and add in parts to make it interesting. I think that it will be a fun movie to watch and it will be interesting to compare it to the book.

  17. In this movie trailer it seems to portray the movie as a very action packed. However the book seemed like more of an emotional journey for both Pi and the viewers.

    1. The trailer does make the movie look like it is action packed but in the story it did have some action in the book when the hyena attacked the zebra. I think the book might be more emotional than action packed though.

  18. The trailer looked liked a must see movie of the year. But I too have the question about the animals. I saw Richard Parker and the zebra but not Orange Juice and the Hyena.

    1. I hope they have orange juice. They have to have the hyena to eat the zebra though.

  19. I think that the movie trailer might be leaving a few ideas that were in the beginning of the story that might be important. I also think that the trailer will be somewhat on what we thought the story would look like.

    1. I agree that the movie looks like the movie is leaving out info in the beginning.
It also left Orange Juice and the hyena.

  20. While I watched the trailer I found that the book and movie are very close and almost feels like they took the scenes straight out of the book and put them in the movie. I think this because you can tell they made it super close to how the book put the different scenes in the exact order, but of course I can't tell about the entire movie but with the scenes from the trailer it looks pretty close. :)

Life of Pi 2

Read the information below and respond in a comment to ONE of the questions. Be sure to restate the question. Chapter 5 Pi was unhappy as a child with his name (Piscine), as it was often mispronounced as “pissing” when it is meant to be pronounced as “pea-seen” . For that reason as he grows up and enters the next level of school, he makes a show of jumping up during roll call and announcing to the class that his name is “Pi” even illustrating it with the mathematical symbol on the chalkboard. 1. Why is it, as Pi suggests, “a law of human nature that those who live by the sea are suspicious of swimmers”? (p 22) 2. Pi explains “in that elusive, irrational number with which scientists try to understand the universe, I found refuge.” (p 24) How does this explain Pi’s character and nature?

Life of Pi 3

Read the information below and respond in a comment to ONE of the questions. Be sure to restate the question. Chapter 16 Pi’s first visit to a Hindu temple as a child is full of wonderment and worship rituals. He describes the details of the rituals and what they stand for in the religion. He is a very religious man and enjoys it, but explains that fundamentalism is flawed with a story about Krishna disappearing before possessive milkmaids. He mentions both Christians 13 for their trust in love and Muslims for their awareness of God in everything. He makes a very circuitous description of how different the religions are and yet how with a different hat they are completely interchangeable.  1. Pi suggests that “many people seem to lose God along life’s way.” Why is this the case? Is this true of our community/ society?  2. Describe the significant rituals of each of the religious traditions that Pi embraces.  3. Pi says “the universe makes sense...
