Chapter 35
The date of Pi’s family’s departure is given as June 21, 1977 (summer solstice) on the Japanese freighter, Tsimtsum along with the animals in their cages. He is incredibly excited to be leaving. This Chapter delivers the final beautiful descriptions of India and Pi’s mother country for the book.
Pi reflects “Things didn’t turn out the way they were supposed to, but what can you do? You must take like the way it comes at you and make the best of it.” What might explain Pi’s acceptance of the chances of life?

DeletePi likes to except life. This is because it never hurt him before.
ReplyDeleteI agree. pi knows that there is no way to avoid shortcomings, so he decides to enjoy life while it lasts.
Deletepi accepts life in this way because he knows that tragedy is inevitable, so you should enjoy the good parts of life.
ReplyDeleteWell said. Pi knows that changes can not be avoided, and he has to move on.
DeletePi acceptance of life is so good because he learned about many religions. Pi is a positive guy he looks on the bright side of things and tries to make the best out of them because soon they will be over.
ReplyDeletePi accepts this because I think this book is supposed to have been written after all of the events happened, and Pi has already been stranded. He knows that there was nothing he really could've done to prevent that unless he drowned, so he's learned to just flow with life.
ReplyDeletePi might except life because he understands that life is as it is and he doesn't exactly have a say in it. He might get it from watching animals at the zoo adapt to there surroundings and let humans basically control there lives. -Maya
ReplyDeleteYou really can't do anything about changes in life. You keep on doing what you are supposed to do. It does not matter if it was a good change or a bad change.
ReplyDeleteReligion may explain Pi's acceptance of change. You must have faith and trust, no matter what happens.
What might explain Pi’s acceptance of the chances of life? I would hypothesize that i would have an emotional expectancy for the departure, but it was rather quick.
ReplyDeletePi's acceptance would be that whatever life has thrown at pie he will take and move on. As Pi states "you can take it and make the best of it", this means that you always have a chance to turn things around and make them positive.
ReplyDeletePi accepts the changes of his life because it could have been worse. He is probably thankful for still being alive.

DeleteI agree with you on the part that it could be worse. On the second part of your response it depends.
DeletePi feels this way because he knows you can't stop the bad parts of life but you can turn them into better situations. Pi also knows that things can't just go on being dismal so you shouldn't dwell on the bad times, but dream of the good. -Riley
ReplyDeleteI agree that Pi does have a hard time making decisions by himself because they rarely come around, having a big brother in all, but your right, he does make the most out of it.
DeletePi accepts the changes in life because he knows that he can't stop what's happening. If something doesn't go his way Pi will just try to make the best of it and not be mad because it didn't go his way.
ReplyDeletePi is thinking about how he kind of has to except what is happening to him since her knows that it will be hard not to, He also knows that he has to stay with the animals because that is all that he has left with him.
ReplyDeleteHe was very willing to except what was happening to him, he was probably thinking how he is going to have faith and trust that someone would find him and the animals. :)
Pi knows some things will happen in life that he will not like. But he should enjoy it while he can. There might be bad times but you can fix them.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Pi accepts life's bumps and turns because he knows he can't very well go back in time. He has different religions and people shame him for it, does he just give them up? No, Because he loves his religions and that's worth fighting for. So when like throws him around he stays strong

DeletePi knows that horrible things will happen but he want's to make the best of it. He thinks the better he makes it the less conflict will happen.
ReplyDeleteI think that, because Pi knows that you have to take life as it comes and and push through the hard days to get to the good ones.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that makes Pi realize his chance of survival is when the Hinayana starts eating the zebra and also kills orange juice he realizes hes not only in the middle of the ocean hes on board a boat with wild animals.
ReplyDeleteI think he takes it easily because his life was always strange. He knows that things happen and that you need to accept it because you cant change what already happened.
ReplyDeletePi's acceptance of life comes from the understanding that you can't change what already happened in life. He understands that it is important to be able to take the chalenges life gives you and defeat them.
